Answer to Question 1

The Florida peninsula juts out between the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, both of which are excellent sources of moist air. Moist air from the oceans moves onto the irregular land surface, causing air to pile up (convergence) and form clouds. Because Florida is also exposed to intense solar heating, this adds to the effect of convergence and results in a high frequency of thunderstorms.

Answer to Question 2

Convective lifting occurs when unequal heating of Earth's surface causes some pockets of air to be warmed more than the surrounding air. This warmed air is less dense than the surrounding air, causing it to rise. When the rising parcels of air rise above the condensation level, clouds form and can produce rain showers.
