Answer to Question 1

Incoming solar radiation may be absorbed, transmitted, or redirected (reflected or scattered).

Answer to Question 2

The rapid increase in CO2 concentrations since the onset of industrialization is obvious. The use of coal and other fuels is the most prominent means by which humans add CO2 to the atmosphere, but it is not the only way. The clearing of forests also contributes substantially because CO2 is released as vegetation is burned or decays.
