Answer to Question 1

Ozone is a form of oxygen that combines three oxygen atoms into each molecule (O3). It absorbs the potentially harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the Sun.

Answer to Question 2

Water vapor absorbs heat energy emitted by Earth as well as some solar energy; thus, it is an important component in the process of atmospheric heating. Aerosols act as surfaces on which water vapor can condense, an important function in the formation of clouds and fog. They can also absorb or reflect incoming solar radiation, and they contribute to the varied hues of red and orange at sunrise and sunset.
