Answer to Question 1

The effect of wave refraction along an irregular coastline is that wave energy is concentrated against the sides and ends of headlands projecting into the water. Wave energy is dissipated by the time waves reach the bays; this often results in deposition occurring in the bays. Eventually, this erosion of headlands and deposition in bays results in a straightening of the shoreline.

Answer to Question 2

A floating object will move up and down and slightly forward and backward with each successive wave. This is due to circular orbital motion.
