Answer to Question 1

Proglacial lakes form at glacial fronts (or just beyond the outer limits of a glacier) where ice blocks rivers and/or traps glacial meltwater to form large bodies of water. Although pluvial lakes also form during ice ages, they are the result of the cooler and wetter climate driving up precipitation. Precipitation fills inland basins, causing pluvial lakes to form.

Answer to Question 2

a. The extent of the river system was much less during the Ice Age than now.
b. The subglacial rivers flowed out the St. Lawrence.
c. The upper and lower Missouri rivers were not connected during the Ice Age and each had separate drainage paths.

The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
