Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

In part, Japan is so heavily forested because it has enacted numerous restrictions on deforestation. It has been able to do so through the importing of its lumber products from other regions, notably Southeast Asia. China is also more heavily deforested because of (1) its long history of settlement and clearing of lands, and (2) its increased consumption of forest products accompanying its industrial growth
