Answer to Question 1

A keynote species is a species whose survival is essential to the success of the ecosystem as a whole. If keystone species go extinct, it threatens the health and viability of the entire ecosystem.

Answer to Question 2

Both the Yangtze and Huang He rivers are important physical resources. On the positive side, these rivers provide a source of water, hydroelectric power, and transportation. On the negative side, both rivers have repeatedly flooded over their banks, causing significant loss of life as well as economic loss. The Three Gorges Dam is designed, in part, to ease flooding on the Yangtze River.
