Answer to Question 1

The most likely trigger for the Huronian glaciation was the decrease in CH4 that resulted from the rise of O2. The increased O2 concentrations would have eliminated much of the CH4 present in the atmosphere, thereby reducing the greenhouse effect.

Answer to Question 2

Tillites, glacial striations, dropstones, and 18O excursions are evidence of glaciations mentioned in the book.
