Answer to Question 1

Immigration to the United States was originally dominated by migrants from England; subsequent immigration during the 1800s originated from northwestern Europe (Irish and German), followed between 18801910 by migrants from Southern and Eastern Europe, and migrants from Latin America and Asia (especially since the 1970s). Immigration to Canada mostly originated, initially, from France; in the 1900s considerable immigration originated from Southern and Eastern Europe. Most recently, there has been large numbers of immigrants from Asia.
