Answer to Question 1

In the midwest, for example, continental climates dominate; specific problems include tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in the spring and summer; ice-storms, blizzards, and generally heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures are hazards in the winter. There are numerous public adaptations, including warning systems and storm shelters established; but there are other, more personal adaptations, including efforts to winterize one's home. For global warming emissions, major causes will include any type of industry, vehicular use, backyard grilling, and agriculture.
