Answer: Past climatic conditions leave clues in the oceans, glaciers, geological records and in biological records. Scientists use many different methods to reconstruct past climates.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Scientists gain insight into past climates based on information left in the geological and biological records through what are called proxy indicators.
