Guidelines we can follow in using classical conditioning to promote positive emotions in our students include the following. (1) Consistently treat students with warmth and respect, such as greeting students in the morning, and avoiding harsh reprimands, and particularly destructive responses, such as sarcasm. (2) Personalize our classrooms to create an emotionally secure environment, such as displaying pictures of students on a bulletin board, and asking students to make short presentations about their backgrounds.
