A firm's statement of cash flow illustrates how the company's operating, investing, and financing activities affect cash during an accounting period. The first section of the statement of cash flows is the cash flows from operating activities. Net income, for example, would be reported in this section. The second section of the statement is concerned with cash flow from investing activities. The sale of a firm's investments, for example, would be reported in this section. The third and final section deals with the cash flow from all financing activities. A repayment of a debt, for example, would be reported here.
