Answer to Question 1

A percentage system provides a more accurate measure of student performance, but it has the disadvantage of being harder for parents and students to understand. A percentage system can make all assessments equal in weight, so it might not provide an accurate measure of achievement, but it is easy to understand. Either system can be effective if teachers assess frequently and thoroughly.

Answer to Question 2

Formative assessments provide teachers and students with information about learning progress, but they are used for the purposes of grading. Summative assessments also provide information about learning progress, but they are used to make grading decisions.
