The main idea of a paragraph is not always stated. If the main idea is not
stated, the writer implies the idea and the reader determines the idea by
making an inference.

Answer to Question 2

The main idea of a paragraph can be stated anywhere in the paragraph.
The best location for the practicing writer to state the main idea is at the
beginning of the paragraph.
