The next time you purchase a pineapple at the market, don't throw away the top of it.
You can grow your own pineapple plant. After you cut off the base with the leaves, scrape
all of the extra meat of the fruit off of the leaf base. When you scrape you should see little
circular specks around the perimeter of the leaf base. These are root buds. Keep the leaf base
in a shaded, dry place for five days. This will give the freshly cut area time to harden, and
will prevent it from rotting. Plant your young pineapple in an 8 inch pot. Regular indoor
potting soil will do the trick. Make sure your pot has good drainage, and keep a dish
underneath. The pineapple plant is a bromeliad, and makes a beautiful houseplant.

that scoopable elements include names of people being spoken to, interrupting expressions,
and unnecessary additional information. Scoopable elements require commas before and after
them to show that the enclosed information can be left out. Some sentences are correct.
