News framing describes the way an editor uses layout design, placement and headlines to sensationalize, downplay, exaggerate or convey importance.  When we recognize news framing, we understand that:
 
  a. The news that makes front- page headlines is always the most newsworthy
  item
  b. A small one-column article appears at the bottom of page 8 reports the
  discovery that the heart of a fetus can be damaged when pregnant woman
  take a popular antidepressant. This finding must not be very significant.
