Gigantism may have been an adaptation to cooler temperatures, since large animals have less surface
area to volume and can retain heat more effectively.



Answer to Question 2

Marsupials are born in an embryonic state and then develop further in the mother's pouch. Placentals
develop internally in a placenta into which nutrients and oxygen are carried from the mother into the
embryo.
