Answer to Question 1

A fiord is a long, steep-walled glacial trough, now filled by an arm of the ocean. They formed when
sea level was much lower and glaciers eroded their valleys below what is now sea level. When sea
level rose, the valleys were flooded.

Answer to Question 2

Rivers carve V-shaped valleys, but glaciers form U-shaped valleys.
