How do the holes form in vesicular igneous rocks, such as scoria and pumice? What will be an ideal response?

Answer to Question 1

They result from the entrapment of gases that come out of the liquid magma when the pressure is
released.



Answer to Question 2

The magma cooled at two rates: first slowly, probably underground, and then more rapidly.
