Soil horizons are distinct layers that differ in texture, structure, composition and color. The
designations are O, A, E, B, and C.



Answer to Question 2

Regolith is unconsolidated rock material that covers the land surface. Soil is regolith that includes
weathered material, water, air, and organic matter (and can support plant growth).
