Answer to Question 1

Cinder cones are made of pyroclastic materials called cinders. They are small, usually not more than
400 m high, often with a bowl-shaped crater. They sometimes have lava flows on their lower flanks.
Many cinder cones are found within or around larger volcanoes

Answer to Question 2

The Hawaiian Islands are all shield volcanoes, which get older with distance from the Hawaiian hot
spot, which lies beneath Kilauea. The island of Hawaii has five shield volcanoes, including Kilauea
and another active volcano, Mauna Loa, which is nearly 100 km across and stands more than 9.5 km
above the seafloor with a volume of 50,000 km3, making it the world's largest volcano.
