Answer to Question 1

Ore deposits result from contact metamorphism in which hot, ion-rich fluids migrate from igneous
intrusions into the surrounding rock. Sulfide ore minerals include bornite, chalcopyrite, galena, pyrite,
sphalerite, hematite, magnetite, tin, and tungsten.

Answer to Question 2

Marble is used as a building stone; some of the world's most beautiful sculptures have been carved
from it. Slate is also used as a building stone; in some regions where it is common, it makes up the
roofs of all the buildings. Sulfide ore minerals are some of the most important metals that we use in
modern society. In addition, we use talc for talcum powder, graphite for pencils, garnets and corundum
for gemstones or abrasives, some high-temperature clay minerals for ceramics, and some temperatureresistan t
minerals for sparkplugs and other hot jobs.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
