Answer to Question 1

Landfills are best left as open areas, such as golf courses or parks. This is because of the potential for
ongoing subsidence as the fill consolidates over time. Subsidence would be damaging to structures. A
second consideration is the potential for methane gas leakage. Keeping the area open provides a way
for methane gas to escape without building up to dangerous levels.

Answer to Question 2

The greatest risk from this would be the possibility of an accident in which radioactive substances
might be dispersed into the upper atmosphere of the Earth. Alpha and Beta decay, for example, are
much more problematic where inhaled particles are concerned. Dust from an explosion at high level
could literally blanket the globe.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
