Answer to Question 1

Since the Phanerozoic includes only 12 of the geologic time scale, most of the page would be taken
up by the Precambrian, making it difficult to draft the details of the Phanerozoic in a legible way.

Answer to Question 2

Once formed, a metamorphic rock can be uplifted by tectonic forces of mountain building into a
mountain range. Exposure to the atmosphere then results in the wearing away of the mountain range,
wherein particles are carried away by, for example, rivers and streams as sediment. These particles are
then deposited in layers, usually within a body of water, and ultimately can become hardened into
sedimentary rock.
