Answer to Question 1

Answer: Volcanic gases. They stay in the atmosphere for longer. Also, they can bond with dust and water to make aerosols and reflect incoming solar radiation.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The growth and distribution of all three proxies would be affected by the temperature. Cold temperatures would slow growth/distribution whereas warm temperatures would increase it. Temperature will also affect the species dominant at given times. Also, each yield specific information the others may not: pollen provides data on vegetation ecology, tree-growth rings provide data on annual climate variability, and corals provide data on sea water temperature.
