Answer to Question 1

Answer: Heated air in the equatorial low rises and spreads out. As it spreads out and cools, the moisture is precipitated out of the air mass. When the air reaches 20-30 latitude, it cools and sinks. As the air sinks, it gets compressed and warms, resulting in the warm temperatures at those locations.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: In humid areas, moisture binds sediment particles together and vegetation anchors the soil.
