What is the difference between the saturated zone and the unsaturated zone? What is the name of the undulating surface that forms the top of the saturated zone?

Answer to Question 1

The saturated zone is the portion of rock or regolith where the pores are completely filled with ground water. In the unsaturated zone the pores are filled with air and ground water. The top of the saturated zone is called the water table.
