Water is converted to steam for generating electricity.
Water is used for irrigation and other agricultural and aquacultural uses.
Water is used for the public and domestic water supply.

Answer to Question 2

Flash floods occur from high-intensity rainfall that overwhelms the system and leads to high run off. Prolonged floods occur where water levels rise gradually over days or weeks, with progressive flooding of the floodplain.
