Answer to Question 1

A dip-slip fault moves along the fault plane's dip. There are 3 types of faults: normal (hanging wall moves downward relative to the footwall), reverse fault (hanging wall moves upward relative to the footwall, at an angle steeper than 45), and a thrust fault (a low-angle reverse fault). Strike-slip fault motion is horizontal along the fault plane, in a left-lateral or right-lateral strike-slip direction.
