gravestones?
Measure loss of material on old gravestones. (Know time elapsed from epitaph, estimate original depth of engraving from new gravestones)
Identify areas of erosion or deposition in the yard.

Answer to Question 2

The main difference you would see from an intrusive and extrusive igneous rock formed from the same magma would be in the grain size of the minerals. The extrusive rock would have small crystals, some so small that you cannot see them with the naked eye.
