Answer to Question 1

Answer: Relative sea-level change describes a shift in local shoreline position caused either by global sea-level fluctuation, local uplift and subsidence of crust, or a combination of these processes. Global absolute sea-level change mostly results from changes in the rates of creation of seafloor at mid-ocean ridges, or from changes in the volume of glacial ice on continents.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Two causes of local variation are high mountains, and small convection cells that form because of differential heating and cooling of Earth's surface. This causes small-scale circulation pattern in coastal and glacial regions.
