As with all classroom management plans, CMCD requires teachers to adopt several roles and accept several responsibilities. One role is teachers:
 
  a. post firm rules and rigid consequences, so students will always have an understanding of expectations.
 
  b. examine their own values regarding student behavior and behavior management, to understand how they are communicating those values to students, and to determine whether those values have meaning for the students.
 
  c. accept the belief that students will misbehave, although the degree of misbehaviors will differ.
 
  d. realize their limitations  school administrators must accept primary responsibility for student behavior.
