ANS: A
Under these conditions, an uncompensated Thorpe tube falsely shows a flow lower than that ac-tually delivered to the patient.

ANS: A
The Thorpe tube flowmeter (Figure 40-26) is always attached to a 50-psig source, either a preset pressure-reducing valve or a bedside station outlet.
