Because 1 L of liquid O2 weighs 2.5 lb and produces 860 L of O2 in its gaseous state, the amount of gas in a liquid O2 cylinder can be calculated with the following formula:
Amount of gas in cylinder = Liquid O2 weight (lb)  860/2.5 lb/L
