An advanced airway will allow the rescuer to achieve one or more of the following goals: (1) de-liver ventilations that are nonsynchronous with chest compressions, (2) restore airway patency, (3) maintain adequate ventilation, (4) isolate and protect the airway from aspiration, (5) provide access for clearance of secretions, and (6) provide an alternate route for administration of select-ed drugs.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
The appropriate length can be estimated by measuring the distance from the patient's earlobe to the tip of the nose.
