Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Calcification along the pleura on a chest radiograph suggests previous exposure to asbestos. Alt-hough such calcified areas (called plaques) do not cause symptoms or physiologic abnormality, they can provide a clue that the cause of ILD is asbestos exposure.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
In ILD, both forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and forced vital capacity (FVC) are diminished, while the FEV1/FVC ratio is preserved or even supranormal.
