Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Lung units have a short time constant when resistance or compliance is low. Lung units with short time constants fill and empty more rapidly than those with normal compliance and re-sistance. The inverse also holds true. Those units with a high resistance and compliance will fill and empty the most slowly.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
The time constant is simply the product of each unit's compliance and resistance.
