Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
A separate arterial supply called the bronchial circulation supplies blood to the airways from the trachea to the bronchioles and to most of the visceral pleurae. The metabolic needs of the lung are comparatively low, and much of the lung parenchyma is oxygenated by direct contact with in-spired gas.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
While the entire cardiac output passes through both pulmonary and systemic circuits, the pulmo-nary circulation offers much lower resistance and, as a result, has a much lower blood pressure.
