Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
The pressure plateau ventilation mode on the Eagle 754 limits the pressure allowed in the circuit and airways but does not end inspiration until the desired tidal volume is delivered. The differ-ence is that it is the inspiratory time that changes to ensure the volume delivery.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
If the flow setting is insufficient for the inspiratory demands of the patient, the antiasphyxia valve allows room air to be entrained for additional flow. This allows the patient to breathe spontaneously between the mandatory breaths in the control mode.
