Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
The diluter regulator is an adjustable reducing valve that regulates the gas pressure delivered to the patient. It can be set from 0 to 30 cm H2O by using a control knob on the front panel of the machine.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
A terminal flow control is provided for minor leak compensation on the PR-1 or PR-2. Negative end-expiratory pressure is a negative pressure that can be applied to the end of expiration and does not have anything to do with leak compensation. The diluter regulator is an adjustable re-ducing valve that regulates the gas pressure delivered to the patient. The flow control adjusts the velocity of the gas flowing to the patient.
