Answer to Question 1

Check the care plan for communication measures. Anticipate and meet the patient's needs. Check the patient often. Have the call light in reach anyway for family or visitors to use.

Answer to Question 2

Position the wheelchair to the person's strong side, or the right side in this case. Use a gait belt, wear nonslip shoes, and lock the wheels on the wheelchair. Good communication between you and the person will help you move him or her safely.
