The nurse should teach the client how to use a peribottle. The client should be taught to clean the perineum from the front to the back, not from the back to the front. The nurse should encourage the client for early ambulation, not stay in bed as much as possible, after the surgery. Frequent sitz baths may be helpful to increase the client's comfort.
