Malignant neoplasms are characterized by the following: rapid growth with uncontrolled, progressive replication (reproduction); nonencapsulated, infiltrating, and invading other tissues; composed of anaplastic (undifferentiated, poorly differentiated) cells; and commonly metastasized.
