Immediately following delivery, the woman may experience extreme fatigue, close to exhaustion, just as she would after any extremely vigorous physical activity or hard work. At the same time, she is usually relieved and excited. She is usually interested in seeing and holding her newborn and having a visit with her partner. The bonding between parents and newborn should be encouraged immediately.
