Answer to Question 1

B
Feedback:
Immediate postoperative care is directed toward maintaining the airway, preventing shock or hemorrhage, using proper feeding techniques, and preventing injury to the suture line. An elbow restraint may be used to keep children from rubbing the suture lines. Sometimes, a Logan bow (curved metal bar) is placed over a repaired cleft lip to decrease tension on the suture line. Cyanosis is not a usual side effect of this surgery. Speech therapy may be scheduled following repair of a cleft palate.
