Answer to Question 1

B
Feedback:
It is vital to check placement immediately on insertion because incorrect placement (e.g., in the esophagus) prohibits oxygenation and can promote gastric distention. With hyperventilation, the person breathes abnormally quickly or deeply, resulting in too little carbon dioxide in the blood. Pneumothorax is the presence of air in the pleural cavity or between the pleura and the chest wall. It may result from trauma or be a complication of chest surgery or chest-tube drainage. Anergy refers to a person being unable to respond to a foreign agent in the bloodstream.
