Answer to Question 1

B
Feedback:
Blood or urine may be tested for levels of various drugs (e.g., urine toxicology UTox) to evaluate situations, such as driving under the influence of alcohol, the amount and identification of a drug used in a suicide attempt, or presence of drugs of abuse. The client's blood may be typed and crossmatched (T&X) for later blood transfusions. It may be necessary to determine the blood level of a therapeutic drug, in order to adjust dosages. It is common to perform a urine pregnancy test (UPT) before prescribing certain medications, because some medications can cause fetal damage.

Answer to Question 2

D
Feedback:
The arthroscopy procedure is performed in a same-day surgery facility and the client can be discharged immediately; hence, the client is taught how to monitor the arthroscopy site for evidence of infection. Following an arthroscopy procedure, the client's joint must be elevated and ice applied to it to control edema and pain. After surgery, clients are NPO. Fluids are contraindicated.
