Answer to Question 1

A
Feedback:
Ginkgo may contribute to bleeding tendencies, particularly if combined with oral anticoagulants. Several herbal supplements may cause problems with diabetes and depression, and allspice and evening primrose may exacerbate seizure disorders.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
Thrombophlebitis involves a clot in a blood vessel, with resultant inflammation. In a new mother, thrombophlebitis typically occurs in the femoral vessels in the leg. Early ambulation greatly lessens the occurrence of thrombophlebitis in new mothers. Uterine atony, or lack of uterine muscle tone, prevents the uterine muscles from contracting and closing the venous sinuses, which usually causes postpartum hemorrhage. Fundal massage is an intervention. Puerperal infection is an infection in any part of the reproductive tract following childbirth. Interventions for this condition and for cystitis (bladder infection) are handwashing and proper hygiene.
