Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

B, C, E, F
Feedback:
Older adults have a depressed thirst mechanism. The signs and symptoms of fluid and electrolyte disturbances, such as confusion, may be subtle or atypical. Also, skin turgor is a less valid observation of dehydration in older adults because of the decreased elasticity of their skin. Older adults may limit fluid intake to avoid the embarrassment of incontinence. Older adults also have decreased renal functioning and may self-medicate with enemas, laxatives, or home remedies that can cause severe electrolyte imbalances.
